How would you describe your business to a friend?
Shopping at Violets Are Blue consignment boutique is a fun shopping experience. You never know what you will find.
Violets has everything from jeans to formal wear - and the prices are great!
What do you love most about it?
What I love most about Violets is the social aspect. I love all the people I have met over the years.
And of course, I love the clothes. It is so fun when women bring in their clothes and accessories and I get to choose the items I want in the store. I've come across so many treasures throughout the years!
I love that Violets Are Blue has been a business that has fulfilled all that I envisioned in a career.
Why did you start the business?
Violets Are Blue opened in 1991. It was my favorite store to shop in through the 90s. When it became available to buy in 1999, I bought it! I still enjoy it after all these years.
I wanted a job that was creative, flexible, social. A place where I could listen to music and make a decent living. Violets is all that and more.
What is something you wish people knew about your business?
Since I became a grandma (14 years ago) I wanted to create a Baby Corner.
Finally, three years ago, the Baby Corner came to life. It features beautiful baby shoes, stuffed animals, soft books, rattles, hats, aprons, and the latest edition, doodle pants! A very fun corner!
What is a common question you get?
I would say that the most common question I get is, "What sells the most?"
That is a hard question to answer because we sell so many different items, but if I had to narrow it down, it would be jeans. We sell lots of jeans!
What is the biggest compliment your business has received?
One of the best compliments I get is when women tell me Violets Are Blue is their favorite consignment store.
